Ivy League Food Summit

Register Today

When:  February 12-13
Where: Yale University, New Haven, CT
Who:  Representatives from all 8 Ivies

Join student leaders from Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, UPenn, and Yale for the first ever Ivy-league Student Food Movement Convergence.  Over two days of discussion and workshops, we will address ongoing campaigns and projects at our schools, our common resources, effective strategies for campus organizing, as well as future possibilities for league-wide collaboration and advocacy.  The event will also feature a critical look into the world of administrative decision-making and sustainable food procurement.  And don't worry--we'll have plenty of opportunities for hanging out and having fun together as well.

We're a community: even though we might not always identify that way, the Ivy League is recognized by our schools' leaders, and much of the world. In fact, the Dining Directors from all the Ivies--who collectively control over $60 million of our dollars--meet every year to compare notes and make plans for the future.  To make our voices heard, we should too. There are already great ideas and leaders amongst us. If we coordinate and act together, we can expand our influence and use this community's power to make even bigger changes in the fields of sustainable agriculture, education, and food justice.

The Summit will be a chance to: find new friends and collaborators in food movement, share innovative projects and successful strategies, learn essential campus organizing skills, and plan opportunities for future Ivy-wide collaboration and organizing. We've all done great work at our schools so far there, and, but our movement still has lots of opportunities for expansion and greater institutionalization.  Coming together will give us a chance to learn from one another, and strategically revitalize our work to enhance our impact.
