Real Food Through a Wider Lens: Midwest Real Food Summit 2010

Who: The Real Food Challenge, you, and oodles of student activists and local sustainability and food justice experts from across the Midwest!

What: Real Food Through a Wider Lens: Midwest Real Food Summit 2010. Featuring speakers, workshops, presentations, panels, discussion, real food, a real food party, and fun of course!

When: Friday, March 12th- Sunday, March 14th

Where: Macalester College, St. Paul, Minnesota

About: This March, students and allies from across the Midwest will gather at Macalester College to discuss, share, and analyze how and where our student movements fit in a larger context of social change.  Students will explore their role in advocating for and creating a more just and sustainable food system. The Summit will provide 150 high school and college students with opportunity to engage in student-led workshops and panels, gain practical skills for building a movement, participate in a forum for broadening networks, and take part in a soon-to-be-determined awesome action event/field trip.

The following are a few of the themes that will be addressed through workshops, speakers, and panel discussions: running an effective student campaign, themes of power and oppression, farm worker and dining service workers’ rights, and international agricultural trade policy.  This 3rd annual Summit will be a diverse, exciting, and fruitful event. Don’t miss this opportunity to strengthen your activism and connect with other students working for real food! Register today!
