About Green Mountain Farm-to-School
Green Mountain Farm-to-School (GMFTS) is a nonprofit organization promoting the health and wellbeing of Vermont's children, farms and communities by providing programs to connect schools and farms through food and education. In 2009-2010, GMFTS aims to serve 15 schools in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont with school gardens, educational programming and fresh local farm foods, benefiting over 2,000 students. FARM-TO-SCHOOL COORDINATOR
The primary respsonsbilities of the Farm-to-School Coordinator will be to develop, grow, present, and evaluate the GMFTS' Farm-to-School Network. Tasks include: maintaining partnerships with schools, farms and other institutions; coordinating local food purchasing; and scheduling and leading educational workshops and events. This is a one-year, full-time position in Newport, VT with a start date of mid-August.
Nutrition and Agricutlure Educator, AmeriCorps Member
The primary responsibilities of the Educator will be to develop, grow, present and evaluate GMFTS educational programs and provide general operational and administrative support. Tasks include: leading weekly after-school program activities at school sites and/or gardens; leading in-class nutrition and agriculture workshops; and developing curriculum materials. Full-time position in Newport, VT and part-time position in Lamoille County available with a start date of late-August.
