From the new organic garden to the real food café, Boston College knows real food. Inspired by the Northeast Real Food Summit at Yale last year, grad student Michael Cermak and junior Sarah King founded Real Food BC - a student group whose goal is to educate the student body about the importance of local, sustainable food.

"Real Food has proved to be an important organizing frame to unite people on campus that care about environmental, health, and social justice," commented Cermak, who realized the importance of gathering wide student support. With lots of campus enthusiasm, Real Food BC organized a "Food Week" in the spring of '08, featuring a dinner discussion, the screening of the film King Corn, and a real food panel discussion including Anim Steel from the Food Project, other food activists from the Boston area, and their Dining Services Director, Helen Wechsler.
