Strengthening the Roots Convergence 2011
Santa Cruz, Feb. 18-20
The fourth annual Strengthening the Roots Convergence is going to be bigger than ever. Thanks to the help of partner organizations throughout the region, this year's STR will bring together 450+ high school- and college-age youth to unite around food justice organizing and activism.
The convergence will feature peer-facilitated workshops, two panel discussions with experienced community activists, dynamic group activities, a concert and dance party with the Santa Cruz-based band Wooster, and, of course, the customary delicious food. Whether you've been organizing for years or are completely new to the world of food systems activism, it's a great place to share skills and knowledge, network with other youth activists from around the state, and celebrate the good work we are doing!
***DIRECTIONS TO GET TO OPENING SESSION***
We'll be gathering in the Stevenson Event Center at the UC Santa Cruz campus. CLICK HERE for a campus map with highlighted directions and Stevenson College with the event space circled. There should also be signs on campus directing you to the "Taste of Santa Cruz (STR)" event.
For folks arriving tonight, you'll need to purchase a $3 "N" permit and then park in lots #109 and #110 (also marked on the map). Over the weekend, you can park here for free or also park at the east remote lot (also marked on the map).
If you get lost, feel free to give our transportation coordinator a call -- Charlie Lambert, 831-428-2526.
